Being Cuban American, I was particularly excited about this project. Paradiso was providing production services for the Upfront Campaign of the new NBC Telemundo series Come Back to Me (Vuelve a Mi), starring international star William Levy. William is Cuban and is the epitome of a success story, immigrating from Cuba and starting a new life in the United States, while pursuing his dream of acting. I really looked forward to connecting with him and talking all things Cuba.
The project wasn’t short of challenges. We had to film in multiple locations over three days, with a myriad of wardrobe changes, along with various sets that required extensive art direction adjustments, not to mention shooting action scenes, gunfights, fist fights, while filming all over Miami! Easy right?!
We love shooting on location and as much “practically” as possible vs using VFX. There is something about touching and feeling the set, which allows the crew and talent to immerse themselves into their surroundings. But filiming in downtown Homestead with William Levy, given the number of people that recognize him was I’d say, interesting. Keeping the hordes of people from approaching William, coming out in our shots, and generally shouting at him during takes was both frustrating but fun at the same time.
We then took our production to the NBC Telemundo Studios, where we monopolized the space for a few days. William was a gentleman and a great sport about everything, truly collaborative and just good natured on set. The trailer was a huge hit at the event. We are always so immensely appreciative of these opportunities to flex our production services. We're looking forward to having the opportunity to work with him and the great folks at NBC Telemundo again soon!
